Cyclones Loan Benson, Receive Van Guilder

Date: 12/30/2009

CINCINNATI, Ohio The Cincinnati Cyclones, ECHL affiliate of the NHLs Montreal Canadiens and Nashville Predators, announced several items this morning involving the club, former players and movement with American Hockey League (AHL) clubs.

Cyclones forward Hans Benson has been loaned to the Portland Pirates (AHL). It will be his second stint of the season with Portland. Benson has played in 16 games with the Cyclones and has two goals and seven assists for nine points and 50 penalty minutes.

The Cyclones also received word that forward Mark Van Guilder has been reassigned to the club from the Milwaukee Admirals (AHL). This is the second time this season that Van Guilder has been with the Cyclones.

In other news, former Cyclones goaltender Cedrick Desjardins (2006-07 & 2007-08) has been named to the Canadian All-Star team at the annual AHL All-Star Game. Desjardins ranks second in the AHL with a 1.55 goals against average and an 11-4-1 record this season.

The Cyclones are on the road this week with a New Years Eve (Thursday, Dec. 31) clash at Kalamazoo at 7:30pm. Saturday (Jan. 2), the club is at Johnstown for a 7:05pm tilt. Both games will be carried on the teams website: www.cycloneshockey.com.

...And on the eighth day, GOD created the Cyclones!

Sorry to see this on our part but good to hear for Benson. I was
critical on the signing of Benson when the image of enforcer was
hung on him. What I've seen is a hard working, defense-minded
winger. I would love to see him as a defenseman with the target
of assists over a winger who should be scoring goals.

Is Hans back already? Saw him on the Cyclones roster but not the Pirates.

Thank God we have our fighter back.

Hockey is life. All the rest is just small stuff.

Glad to have Hans back, but the boys didn't do too shabby without, albeit a very short time. Chris Morehouse took care of the small amount of fighting J-town decided to throw at us. It'll be nice to have a nice little version of Bash Brothers though... LOL

What you do today can change the course of your life far into the future. Today is critical. Today really counts.
