CINCINNATI, Ohio - The Cincinnati Cyclones, ECHL affiliate of the NHL's Montreal Canadiens and Nashville Predators, announced this afternoon they have loaned forward Dustin Sproat to the Milwaukee Admirals (AHL). Sproat appeared in 33 games for the Cyclones in 2009-10, racking up eleven goals and 17 assists for 28 points.
Sproat, 29, is in his second professional season. He joined the Cyclones in January 2009 after signing with the club as a free agent. With Fresno last season, the six-foot, 195 pound native of Red Deer, Alberta, played in 16 games and had a pair of goals and four assists for six points. With the Cyclones, he played in 39 games and had 13 goals and 21 assists for 34 points.
Dustin was a three-time letterwinner at Princeton, playing in 92 games and collecting 28 goals and 29 assists for 57 points with 62 penalty minutes. The 2004-05 season was his finest, netting 18 goals and collecting 17 assists for 35 points in 31 games.
Sproat also won a pair of prestigious awards at Princeton. As a freshman in 2002-03, he was the winner of the university's Hobey Baker Trophy, as the top freshman player there. In 2005-06, Dustin was named the winner of the Blackwell Trophy for his contributions on the ice, sportsmanship and influence on the team. A two-time ECAC All-Academic choice, he began his professional career in 2005-06 with Reading (ECHL) and saw action in 16 games, netting a goal and an assist for two points.
Dustin Sproat becomes the tenth different Cyclones player to earn an AHL promotion this season, after 17 players earned the nod to the AHL last year. In the three-plus seasons that Chuck Weber has been the coach of the Cyclones, 58 players have earned promotions to the AHL.
The Cyclones are at Wheeling tonight (7:30pm on 1530 Homer The Sports Animal) and at Reading on Saturday (7pm on www.cycloneshockey.com), before returning home for three games next week. Tuesday (Jan. 12), the club hosts Wheeling, Wednesday (Jan. 13), Kalamazoo comes in and next Saturday (Jan. 16), Toledo arrives for Military Appreciation Night, where active members of the armed forces with valid ID are admitted for $7.
Tickets for the 2009-10 Cincinnati Cyclones season are now on sale. The Cyclones Sales Department can be reached at 513-421-PUCK, extension 3. The Cyclones have selected Friday night games carried on 1530 Homer The Sports Animal and all contests aired on their website at www.cycloneshockey.com. The next radio game on 1530 Homer The Sports Animal is tonight at 7:30pm when the squad tries to win a club record eighth consecutive road game against Wheeling.

A richly deserved chance to play in the AHL for Sproat.
He's an extremely smart player who has played with some additional grit this season. I'd be great if he's up for more than a 'cup of coffee' so he gets a reasonable chance to demonstrate his talents. |

| Congrats to Sproat, my current favorite Cyclone. Glad he got the call before they headed to Wesbanco. |

Due to injuries, Nashville has called up former Cincinnati Mighty Duck Ben Guite and Cal O'Reilly from Milwaukee, thus creating the opportunity for Sproat in the AHL. Unless Nashville suffers more injuries (or Milwaukee) while he's there, he'll be back in a Cyclones uniform once O'Reilly and/or Guite are returned to Nashville's AHL affiliate. |

donnie, we know that call-ups happen primarily due to injury. if no one ever gets hurt in higher leagues there is rarely a reason to make a call up from lower leagues.
this is another example of the negativity you bring here. we are proud of our guys when they get the chance. why must you have the desire to bring your jaded and slighted point of you to this topic?
dustin is a smart, hardworking player, not to mention he's a great person, who has played very well this season and he deserves this chance regardless of the reason. we know why it happened and we know that he may not even play a game. we are happy he's getting a chance.
you can call what you said a "fact" and it very well maybe, but it is another example of the negative double speak you bring to this message board.

Maybe because he has some sort of untreated medical issues? I'm not being facetious.
Riding a roller coaster with as rough a ride as "The Racer" 10,000+ times can probably induce a lingering low-level concussion over time that could possibly create serious long term problems including (but not limited to) severe depression. Imagine yourself getting moderately head slapped 100,000 times or so. The cumulative effect could be significant. It could be seen as similar to someone who does a repetitive function at a job who ends up with carpal tunnel syndrome.
Bonnie Schlocky should just be viewed as having cranial carpal tunnel syndrome.
Or he could just be a jerk. |

| Kudos to Sproat for the callup. Regardless of reasons, he had to become noticed somehow for him to be the one called up. |

| Best of luck to Dustin, he deserves to play at the AHL level even if only due to injuries. As for HockeyDummy...how is the Railraiders and that other team that couldn't be creative enough to have there own team name (Hint..The Mighty Ducks, in case you forgot)? Don't go away mad Donnie, just go away!!! |

Desharnais wanted to ride the Racer when the Cyclones had a team appearance at Kings Island in 2007, but he wasn't tall enough to ride. He did get to ride the Fairly Odd Coaster, though. |

If it weren't for injury, Tom Brady would have never played for the New England Patriots. How has that worked out so far? |

This is by far the best suggestion I've heard on here yet. Everyone is entitled to an opinion, but if their only purpose is to troll and stir up crap, they can do it somewhere else. |

| Congrads are in order for Sproat. I have enjoyed his hustle ever since he came over from Fresno. Hopefully he impresses the Milwaukee coaches! |

Congratulations to Dustin on being called up and actually getting to play in Milwaukee. Watching that game was almost like watching a Cyclones game... LOL Super great to see all our guys up there playing at the next level. I'm super proud of all my boys. And like elvis said to me the other night, I miss Chris Mueller, he's such a stud. |
