I generally do a search for 5 tix. I just did one. Sec 106 Row F--so it appears that the center ice area will be sold out in the next several hours.

With the crazy walk ups that are possible, it still could be a very good crowd.

I think the large number of walk ups are due to the high fees that ticketmaster charges. With my family of 4 we often have to pay 20-30% of the ticket prices when we are forced to use ticketmaster for other events we might attend. Other arenas have their own ticketing I wonder why the Cyclones don't look into this.

Willie's on PA? Are we going to a Cyclones game or a Nuremberg rally?

Who knows what the heck is going on but this is one night that I will definitely not be sad to miss. Cunningham is extremely annoying and probably doesn't know anything about hockey and to me it just seems like the whole night could turn into a circus

Quoth Bill Cunningham "The Cyclones fans love me" I for one will be booing Cunningham for the first and every mistake he makes afterwards. Looks like I will be hoarse by about 5 minutes in....

Just did a search on Ticketmaster for 5 tickets:

Section 124 Row C seats 2-6. They're already selling into the corners before any kind of walk-up sales. If we get a decent walkup we could be in the 6-7K range. A strong walkup could net over 7,000.

It shows how far this team has come to even consider a crowd of 5857 somewhat of a disappointment.

I wouldn't doubt that the cold temperatures may have lessened the walk up. The delay to the start of the game was completely unneeded as the lines to the ticket windows were roughly 10 deep at 7:20. The delay decision by management (obviously made hours before the game) just shows how tough it is to accurately predict walk up numbers.

I'm still a bit surprised that this didn't have stronger appeal. I guess I overestimated both Cunningham's appeal and the interest that the fairly sizeable amount of WLW publicity would generate. In any case, the promotion was hardly a failure. I think that the Cyclones are thinking in the right manner when they go outside of Cyclone-related bobbleheads. The success of Lake Erie's basketball-themed bobbleheads may be the best indicator of the direction the Cyclones should take next year for this type of promo.

Also, as someone pointed out to me at the game, the WLW publicity may show in increased attendance numbers for the games in the coming weeks.

It wasn't a bad crowd, but I would definitely say it was disappointing. I can't believe "kids eat free" night drew better last weekend. This was about the type of crowd I was expecting after initially hearing about the promotion, but I kept hearing from fellow fans about how hard WLW had been pushing it for weeks and all of the hype and appeal it was getting (rightly, of course). It will probably be fairly far down the list of best-attended games by the end of the year, I would think.

BTW, my Cunningham bobblehead is standing side by side with my Obama bobblehead. I should take a picture and email it to Willie. I bet he'd love it!

It also shows how far Cyclones hockey has fallen when 5,857 is the 19th largest crowd this franchise has had at USBA but wouldn't have ranked among the top 219 crowds from the ECHL/IHL Cyclones days at the Gardens.

Different era in minor league hockey. Different point in the product life cycle. Different honesty in announcing crowds. Different economic conditions.

Still, the 6,186 post Jan. 1 weekend average this season is higher than the defunct Cincinnati Ducks ever had.

But, at least your miserable "contributions" are no different than usual.

Reds shortstop Paul Janish had a .321 batting average post August 1 on weekends but still finished the season with a .211 batting average.

Where will the Cyclones end up, Joe? That's the number that matters, not what they drew on the weekends post January 1.
