| Scoreless on one shot and he's named the third star. Just goes to show it is as I said it is with stats not really mattering when you're evaluating a player's performance. It's not how many points someone has, but what they do when they're on the ice. |

2 Career NHL games played by Desharnais, both coming against the Penguins, with the speed demon having made his NHL debut in Pittsburgh back on November 25.
This is from the Canadiens website http://canadiens.nhl.com/club/news.htm?id=516552&navid=DL|MTL|home
Somebody up above thinks Desharnais has some wheels to his game, great ice time for Desharnais, usually the 4th line gets little minutes in Montreal |

The thing that always impressed me about DD's skating was that he reached peak speed quickly. Quick acceleration is a huge asset in and of itself.
It's not that hard to do that, I guess, when you're 3 feet tall.
Am I right, Shorty rock or robo?? LOL. |

Some media relations intern, perhaps, that writes for the website. Let me know when Bob Gainey, Jacques Martin or someone else in the hockey operations department is quoted talking about Desharnais having some wheels. |

Canadiens coach Jacques Martin said that while the call-ups from the AHL had a surprisingly good game for Montreal, it was veterans like Gionta that ultimately made the difference.
"The kids played well, but in the end when you look at the scoresheet the guys who got the production are the guys you count on daily," he said. "Our top two lines responded well. They played against some top players and outplayed them."

http://sports.yahoo.com/nhl/boxscore;_ylt=AgbLK3KN9oQKDcer0o2615l7vLYF?gid=2010020610 DD is +1 and Crosby is -2 despite being in on a goal. I guess we need to send Crosby back to the AHL! Honestly, I hope David gets at least 4 games to show if he can handle some 3rd line NHL action. The vets may have done the scoring but if the young guys don't pull their shift the end result would have been a loss. |

| Orpik kept Desharnais from scoring a goal on a wide open net, and took a penalty in the process, which led to a PP goal. Desharnais more than held his own out there today. |

"They created a lot of energy, they created a lot of chances and they weren't a liability at all out there defensively," Gionta said. "I thought they played a great game, especially having three of them together out there
