Quote: The fans didn't help matters by throwing food and drinks onto the ice _____________________________________________________________________
I was listening to Hammer when all hell broke loose but when the fans started throwing crap onto the ice, did the officials pass a warning via the PA announcer to the crowd The few times here at USBA I ever seen it happen, Wildman is real quick to warn the fans to cease or be ejected from the game Or is this normal, accepted behavior in Reading

Being that a few phillies fans have made the news recently for running on the field and intentionally puking on a little kid at a ballgame, im guessing that the people of the greater philly area are just a classy group all around. |

Made it home safe...
First off, I love how all the Reading fans wanted to blame this on the ref and Hans Benson for some reason. There were a total of 4 penalties for the first 2 periods, a few sprinkled in the beginning of the third, then 16 in the last 3.5 minutes. At least it was called the same for both teams. They want to complain that Hans was out there "gooning it up" the whole game. What they don't want to acknowledge it that half their team was out there taking these little cheap shots and piss-ass juvenile crap the whole second half of the game. I can't tell you how many times I saw Giliati out there shoving the butt end of his stick up under someones shoulder during a check or skating down the bench line tripping guys coming on and off the ice. Hans was just getting pissed that they were getting away with their schoolyard BS and kept calling them on it. They'd pull something stupid and he'd get in their face, drop the gloves and they'd freak and skate off like a bunch of wussies. Typical... I guess the fans didn't like that Ragusin wasn't calling Hans for fighting or instigating or whatever.
The rest of the boys did an excellent job of not reacting to all the crap that was getting thrown their way. Multiple times a guy would be in someone's face and our guy would just laugh, back up and skate away. Sheahan, Jozsa and Cashman all did very well in that regard. The straw the broke the camel's back were the two goals waved off. The first one was totally legit. He was off-sides. Robbie knew it which is why he had come so far out of the net. The second one was iffy at best. I believe that one was waved because of a high stick? Jeez, whatever... I feel kind of bad, because if that had happened to us I would have been pissed too. But at the time it was funny as hell and we were all laughing our butts off. I guess that's why we had to get escorted out to the bus after the game. I guess we hadn't made that many friends.
Also, why on God's green earth would Delly take a two-handed swing at someone's head for no damn reason when we're up 5-0? Seriously... It was 4 on 4 because Sheahan and Giliati were in the box for slashing each other(??). So they play was in our end, but there were 3 Cyclones (plus Robbie) and 1 Royal on that end of the ice. WTF? So I look back to center ice where, I guess it was Stamoulis because he was huge, was facing off with Delly. Not sure what happened to have them in these positions, but I can absolutely gaurantee that Delly DID NOT make a two-handed slash at anyone's head. Stam was standing there with his stick in both hands swinging it around Delly's legs and chirping, chirping, chirping. Delly then takes his stick in both hands and tries to smack Stam's stick, misses, then 2 Royals (not sure who) came in from behind and knock Delly down. All three of them are on top of him at this point, banging his head on the ice a couple of times. So, in skate the reinforcements. Sproater jumps in trying to get Stam off the dog pile. Max and Van are squared off with other random Royals, of which there are now 7 on the ice. The linesmen come in trying to get the guys off Delly. That didn't work out so well. Each linesman has a guy, one gets skated off toward their bench, the other one is wrestled up against the glass on the box side. That guy was fighting the linesman pretty good. So Delly gets up and somehow Stam is loose again from whoever he had been with. So they get into it again and I'd like to say Delly pretty much embarrassed the hell out of him.
The whole thing was a **** show. I'm not saying our guys are total innocent angels, but hell, what were they supposed to do? I can't really say what happened down in the tunnels and by the locker room. You could hear the yelling and see the security guys that stand behind the players benches both jump the wall and go down the tunnels. At first we thought the Reading guys came over to our side because Jeremy was on the bench pointing back down the tunnel and yelling at Storkie. But then someone said it was us that went over to their side. I have no idea. Of course the Reading people are going to say it was us.
I just don't get how they can get so incredulous that Delly would two-hand slash someone and that's the worse thing they can think of. Ummm, why would he two-hand slash someone in the middle of play when we're winning? How is all the other BS that Reading did not as bad as a supposed two-hand slash? They did throw some crap on the ice, but not a lot. They did make the announcement to not throw stuff. And yeah, there were quite a few people that came over to the seats by the tunnel and were screaming and cussing at our guys on the bench and as they were being sent to the locker room. Since the security guy was already back by the locker rooms, there was no one to stop them. Some of us Cyclones fans moved down and blocked the area next to the tunnel to keep more people from getting near enough to scream at our guys.
Most of the Royals fans we talked to were very nice though. I didn't get threatened at all. Most came down and thanked us for coming, congratulated us for supporting our boys and for how well our boys had played. Some mentioned how embarassing it was to see their team behave that way. Dan even had a guy buy him a beer because he was wearing his Cyclones jersey. |

Nice post Lisa. As far as the match penalty on DelMonte, all the youtube videos I have seen didn't show a 2-handed swing. Hell, from what I saw he was dog-piled on by at least 3 Reading players. Glad you and the other fans had a great time, bringing back 2 wins. We watched it at Dickman's but didn't see the thing start. B2 was very crappy that night, freezing and losing the feed every minute it seemed. |
What you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

DelMonte did something. Maybe instigation. Maybe retliation. Maybe retaliation for something that happened earlier. Who knows (other than him), but for him to get a suspension an official saw him do something. Very likely happened just before the first video above.
As for 3 players jumping him, which is pretty clearly evident in that video... Thats just chicken****, and it violates pretty much every "unwritten" rule in the honor code of the game. I'm just glad our guys on the bench had the self control to stay there, and there aren't any more suspensions. Things are too critical for that right now.
Revenge has no expiration date. If all goes well, hopefully we'll get a chance for some revenge, by the book, like real hockey players, before this series is over.

Seems as though Reading don't like playing by the rules if something goes against them! The Cyclones will prevail if they keep their cool and play by the rules |

PRINCETON, N.J. The ECHL announced that Scott Fletcher of the Reading Royals has been suspended indefinitely pending an investigation into an off-ice incident that took place during Game #6 of the American Conference Finals at Cincinnati on May 11, 2010.
At this time the Leagues investigation is ongoing and a final determination on the length of the suspension will be announced following the completion of the Leagues review. |

haha this is great. I dont know what he did, but he was chirping all night long on the ice mainly talking crap to Aubin and Benson and on the bench chirping at fans around the bench. Maybe something with fans after the game? I sit just to the right of the visitors bench and didnt see anything after the game. As I said earlier, on a team full of jacknuts he's probably the worst. Serves him right. |

Reading's implosion continues. Reading started to lose control in game 4 and the trend continues. Putting yourself down players for "off ice incidents" doesn't sound like a team focused on winning a hockey game.
Lets put the Royals out of their misery! |

This may be a shot in the dark, but I could have sworn that I saw a Reading player "saluting" the fans as he walked off the bench into the tunnel area? Could that have been it? I don't recall which jersey number it was, but that was my first guess off the top of my head. |
