Looks like a good matchup although with no cross conference play this year it is hard to get beyond numbers. They had a 103 pts to our 91. They scored 260 goals to our 235 and gave up 191 to our 200 ( best two defenses in the league). Their 2 goalies finished 1 and 3 in GAA while ours finished 2 and 6. Their #1 is up to Texas in AHL and hopefully stays there.
One difference looks like the concentration of scoring. Pierce was the only Clone with more than 25 goals during regular season. With he and Reynolds out, only Ehgoetz and Sprout had more than 20 for us. They have a 42 and 32 goal scorer but drop off after that. Like our balanced scoring better.
Hopefully Aubin can provide Chuck some insights. Anyone know anything about this team other than numbers? |

Can anyone fill me in on what happened and length of time Reynolds and Pierce are out? (If its possible to post on here too - dont wanna give anything away - unless already mainstreaming). Thanks

Well, I can't really comment on I-ma-hoe per se, but while they did finish number one seed, I found it interesting that beside Stockton, every other team in that conference appeared mediocre. It seems our conference was strong pretty much from top to bottom, which is evidenced by how the races came down to the wire.
We will soon see if they are that dominant, or just the best of several average teams. |
...And on the eighth day, GOD created the Cyclones! |

I've watched a few videos of the Steelheads and initially felt they seem alot like Las Vegas? maybe there is a West coast type of play, anyone else? |

Everybody is going to find out if the National Conference stunk this year or if Idaho is that good. Or some combination thereof. Only one other team in that conference won more than half its games (Bakersfield-38) and Idaho won the Conference by an eye-popping 21 points.
Idaho-due to its first round bye-has played only 10 playoff games compared to the Cyclones 19. But, the Steelheads have also lost their number one goalie to AHL recall. http://www.idahostatesman.com/2010/05/13/1190652/kelly-cup-finals-steelheads-vs.html The expected Idaho starter for games 1 & 2 is Rejean Beauchemin. That name may be familiar as he played for Dayton in 2007-08. He's nothing special and the Cyclones will have a huge advantage over Idaho in net at the beginning of the series-or so it appears.
Idaho has 3 outstanding scorers on its roster: McCutcheon, Barlow and Derlago. The former two were college teammates of Cyclone Doug Krantz at Cornell, so Krantz may have some insight as to how to stop these two (though he probably couldn't himself ). After these three guys, the scoring drops off significantly, so it would seem that if the Cyclones need to neutralize or at least limit the scoring of these three if they are to win.
Here are the regular season stats for Idaho:http://hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/leagues/seasons/teams/0032552010.html for those who might be interested. |

Reynold isn't on the playoff roster-he blew out his knee late in the regular season.
