20 years from now this team will not be known by wether they win the Cup or not--they will be known as one of the six teams to date in all of pro hockey in all the years who came back from 0-3. The boys played well and showed a lot of heart but my hat off to Chuck who took several unorthodox moves this series and batted 1000 with them. Was there anyone tonight who really thought Mayer would start after last night? He knows his people and gets the most out of them. Bravo
Also Bravo to the game of hockey. I noticed tonight during the hand shakes that Benson and Stamulous were off to the side a bit talking and patting each other on the back. That is what is so great about the game and the players. Intense intense play with the opponent during the game but respect afterwards. I love this game. |

Great post dbc.
If I ever question anything Weber does, then I ought to be kicked. Hard. I sit behind the players bench and about 3 minutes into the game I look down and see Smith's #30 staring at me. I was so certain that Smith would start that I didn't even look at who was in our net at the beginning of the game and I was startled when I saw Smith on the bench. Mayer looked like the second coming of Gajewski (at his worst) on Tuesday, and I couldn't believe that he'd get the game 7 start-especially after Smith had played very well in relief and had won the first two series in their penultimate games. What the hell do I know? Nobody answer that, please
This is a team missing Coughlin, Pierce, Reynolds, and Kilpatrick. It is a team which couldn't score worth a damn for the past two months. It's a team with very mediocre special teams. And they're playing for the KC! If this doesn't punch Weber's ticket to an AHL head coaching job then nothing will. We should not be in the finals. The ice at USBA should have long been taken out by the bobcat and the glass and boards long since put into storage.
I guess coaching genius and player's character and determination can overcome almost anything.

I'm just as amazed at Mayer starting tonight as I am in the history making win. I too had to look several times to see that it was actually Robert in goal. Seriously... What coach does that?
Well, I guess the same coach that benches his leading scorer for 4 straight elimination games and wins all four of them.
He's either monumentally lucky, or very very good. I'm thinking its the latter.
There is NO WAY this guy doesn't move on ASAP. I'll hate it, but I understand and wish him well.
But lets win another cup first!

Regardless of what happens, another historic season will be remembered by everyone! This year, we dont have the Brabham, and we didnt even win the division... and we didnt even have home-ice until this last round... but we proved that that doesnt mean a damn thing!!! The best team wins all the time! Ask the Canadiens!!!!!
Heres to hopefully the soon to be 2010 Kelly Cup Champion Cincinnati Cyclones... and BRING IT ON IDAHO!!! You only proved you were better than seven other teams... try the best team in the ECHL. PERIOD! |
KELLY CUP CHAMPIONS- 2008, 2010 AMERICAN/EASTERN CONFERENCE CHAMPIONS- 2008, 2010, 2014 DIVISION CHAMPIONS- 1996, 2008, 2009, 2013 2008 BRABHAM CUP CHAMPIONS Boards + visitors = broken bones! |

Here is my pipe dream, Don't let Weber go, have the Nederlanders secure an AHL franchise and call them the Clones. First head coach of the AHL Cyclones......Chuck Weber....for now the ECHL Clones is plenty, Kelly Cup Finals here we come. |

I just don't think the attendance warrants a jump to the AHL. Its certainly better and still trending up, but I wouldn't make that leap just yet. Its already failed here once. Yes, different team and different venue but still the same city and fans.
Great crowd for a Wednesday last night though. Shows what a ton of media coverage can do. But there were still under 2000 people for both games 1 and 2 if I remember correctly.

Unfortunately the AHL wont work here anymore, I dont think. Hockey just doesnt get enough attention, we have 2 professional teams to compete with, not to mention the ticket price would skyrocket to compensate for the AHL salaries. |

We've been to all playoff games at USBA, and attendance continues to grow, be it media coverage or a true interest in the Cyclones I suspect that the numbers will continue to go up, especially if the Clones were to be in a position to take the cup at home The attendance for the final game of 2008,Kelly Cup was almost 13,000, so we still got a long way to go, but being in the finals now, the numbers should skyrocket Tell a buddy, bring a friend, and let's pack USBA to cheer the Clones to victory |

Hershey Playoff tickets are $23.50-$17.50, Manchester $24-14, Hamilton $28, and Texas $87-12. Think we could draw at those prices?
Idaho playoff tickets go from $35-$17.50. Checked the Idaho web site and regular season walk up tickets go for $32.50-$15 and season tickets from $25-$12.50 with a 3 year commitment. No more complaints about our prices

I really am not certain as to the whole AHL thing working out here. Ultimately I don't care one way or the other. I have NOTHING to complain about but thats why it is a PIPE DREAM, Another would be see a NHL team here. I don't want at all to discuss the posibilities because it is absolutely something that I could care less about. In a perfect world though it would be cool. My ultimate motive is based upon hating to see Weber move on. His coaching stint here sure has been fun. |

I agree with you SCUBA, it would be a great dream to see the Cyclones back in the "top" minor league system, however, Cincy just isnt a hockey town (although there are 1000's that would disagree last night :) ).
Charlotte jumping to the A was a surprise to me, and I think that 1 TEAM, not 2, COULD in fact survive in the A in Cincy, but I wouldnt do it just yet. Win another Kelly Cup, and next year will be an audition year for us...imo |

We all know what kind of stand-up guy Coach Weber is...More evidence to support this became apparent last night. Did anyone else notice Chuck giving a heart-to-heart to Ben Gordon at center ice after the teams passed through the handshake line? Extremely classy of the man to do that. It's obvious that he cares about his players--past and present. We have been extremely fortunate to have a damn talented hockey coach in this town. What makes it even better is that he's a hell of a guy too. THANK YOU COACH WEBER! |

I did take note of that. He also was yelling "Jimmy get on the ice" to Kilpatrick when the non-dressed players had gathered on the bench after the game's conclusion.
Weber has extraordinary "people skills". He knows how to communicate with his bosses, his affiliates (2), players, media and fans. At one season ticket holder gathering last season (right before the playoffs) it just struck me as how skillful he is in knowing what level of communication to use to different groups. From his pre-game interviews with Hammer to his interactions with know-it-all fans (not me ), he just seems to have an intuitive ability to place the conversation at the appropriate level.
The failure of an AHL organization to snatch him from the Cyclones has benefitted us to no end. I can't see our luck holding up any longer. |

I've felt that way since Chuck and the boys won the cup in 2008 He is a hockey "GOD", so it's just a matter of time, unfortunately |

I ran into the Arena GM at Kroger yesterday (noticed her because she was wearing an American Conference Champions t-shirt) She mentioned that Chuck had interviewed with Hamilton last year, and just like Elvis said, didn't get it because he doesn't speak French.
She also mentioned there are something like 6 AHL vacancies this coming year, so if the Clones win the Cup again this year, I definitely expect Chuck's days here are numbered. |
