He is gone after this season regardless if they win or lose. We all know its only a matter of time. Well deserved promotion but sad to see him go. |

Why do people like you just assume things? Do you know Chuck personally? Jeez people. Making up things is just stupid, just enjoy the finals this week. |

Speaking of the whole team being on the ice after the game Wednesday... I didn't see Morehouse.
Has he moved on or did I just miss him out there?

Yes, I grew up playing hockey... In Alabama. |

I like Chuck Weber. That said, I hope he isn't here next season. You want to see your local team do well, but you also want to see the guys on the team move on if it's a minor league team like the Clones. That goes for the coaches as well. He's too good a coach to be down here any longer. |

Assuming Chuck Weber leaves... Is Dean Stork in line to be the next head coach? |

I think Stork would get a really good look, but I think the question is does he want the job or is he more comfortable as the Assistant |

Most people don't know the difference between the NHL, AHL, ECHL, OHL, IHL, TMIOGHHFHJHL .... I think it comes down to numbers. who knows.... TWO teams won't work, but ONE team in any league would be fine. |

Outside of the Chicago Wolves and Grand Rapids Griffins, AHL organizations don't hire the head coach. The NHL parent club does.
NHL general managers and assistant general managers looking to hire a coach for their AHL farm club don't care how many championships someone has won in their coaching career. They're looking for someone that can teach the essential parts of the game to their top prospects; players they have a lot of money invested in. There are also a lot of AHL coaches that have no say whatsoever in the system the team employs and which players play and in what situations, and those NHL organizations are going to hire someone they know will do it their way.
Chuck Weber is an outstanding coach. He gets the most from his players. But NHL teams are looking at a lot more than wins and losses and championships when they're hiring someone to coach their farm club. |

quote: Charlotte jumping to the A was a surprise to me, and I think that 1 TEAM, not 2, COULD in fact survive in the A in Cincy, but I wouldnt do it just yet. Win another Kelly Cup, and next year will be an audition year for us...imo
Charlotte is NOT jumping the the AHL. The Albany River Rats have been bought and are being relocated to Charlotte (to be called the Checkers). Charlotte returned its ECHL franchise to the league and all the current Charlotte Checkers who are not on AHL/NHL deals are free agents. Charlotte will be the AHL affiliate of Carolina.
The AHL expansion seems to be westward with increased travel and administrative costs. Ticket prices would increase dramatically (Even on this board people were complaining about the increase for the playoffs, and we're supposed to be the die-hards). BTW there are no AHL franchises available (Texas is on a one year deal to operate but technically is not a franchise.)
Lets keep what we have for five years and re-evaluate. Hopefully by then 5000 on a weeknight will be common and then, maybe lets check out the AHL.
Till then showing up in the Kelly Cup finals every other year is fine with me. |
