Looks like win number one and second Star of the Game. Congrats Ceddy!
Wonder if Montreal is having second thoughts? |

| It is just one game. Montreal wouldn't be having any second thoughts. If he goes on to win 250 games they might have some remorse but only if Carey Price didn't stay their number one goalie for the next 8-10 years. |

| Desjardins wasn't tested much the first two periods but made some dazzling saves in the third. He looked sharp. |

| NHL Overtime on Versus played the highlights and talked about him being undrafted but someone who has earned it. The goal he gave up was deflected off the leg of his d-man. They also said Ellis was hurt today in practice so Ceddy might be playing more |

| Ellis was fine in warmups. Desjardins will get another start because of his play tonight. |

Absolutely cool. To beat his former organization only adds to the moment.
Desjardins is a winner. Pure and simple. I'll never forget the time in Wheeling after he lost a game by giving up a late goal. Long after the game had ended, I was hanging around talking to Hamel and who appears in his sweatsuit but Cedrick. He had a look in his eyes that said "leave me alone". He proceeded to run up and down the stands in Wesbanco and was still doing so when I left the arena about 5 minutes later. The kid has the competitive desire that marks a true champion.
Another incident I'll never forget regarding Cedrick is after a game in Cleveland last season. Hecklerthatsmells (dressed in full garb ) and I were down at the glass during warm ups and CD gave us a perfunctory acknowledgement. After the game, Heckler was making his way down to the runway the Hamilton players had to take to get to their locker room, but he got a late start. Desjardins had picked up the puck (after a 4-1 win) and was looking frantically to find someone. That someone was Heckler (who never did get the puck because he took too long to get down to the runway ).
The fact that CD was considerate enough to even remember Cincinnati fans-let alone his puck gesture-speaks volumes about what a nice guy he is.
He now has a lower career goals against average than EVERY NHL Hall of Fame goalie.
Not bad. |

"Montreal gave me my chance at 20 years old, and I'll always be respectful for that," Desjardins said. "And (Thursday) is a day I won't forget." A simple quote like this shows the class he has. Some players would go in the game with a chip on their shoulder and pay the price. Winners like Cedrick and David D. usually come through when they finally get a shot at the next level. |

| Dean told me at the end of the 09 season that Ceddy always would review hours of tapes and over practiced constantly. He definitely a NHL level player |
