After two consecutive home shutouts against, it's time for the Cyclones to have an offensive outburst.
Let's get some goals, boys!

| It has been ten straight periods without a single goal on our own home ice. Yet here we are in the playoffs and it does not appear to be for much longer since we have another game at home and we all know that means another shutout. How the hell can they play so well on the road and suck so bad at home. I know sullivan did not help any but they did not take advantage of any oppurtunity that came thier way. |

The ref called a bad game, but it didn't really effect the outcome.
We made a couple of mistakes (Dalton catching us napping and a turnover in front of our own net) that Reading converted and we once again didn't convert any of our chances. Not having Sproat hurts this team alot.
Nice effort by the boys and Reading will need some ice packs tonight, but someone has to get focused on shooting and crashing. We don't really have any natural goal scorers and need to play ugly and get nasty in front of the opposing goalie. We aren't doing that.
At least we aren't doing it at home. Do we play nasty on the road or do we try these same cutesy no-look and saucer passes that don't ever work?
By the way people, for the last time, NEVER BOO THE HOME TEAM. EVER. Even if they deserve it, you don't do it. And especially never yell a home players name followed by "you suck." If you are that dumb and classless, please just do the other 3000 of us a favor and stay home. Yes, it's your right to be an ass. I'm asking you to not exercise that right. |

Who died & made you the boss? Get over yourself already...if PAYING fans want to boo the lousy ass effort they put forth at home, especially vets like the hyphen and aubin - whose lazy play is inexcusable, who never won a battle for the puck all night - then let them boo. |

Because it is classless and accomplishes nothing.
Do you think booing your own guys at home will make them play better? Do you think they are actually down on the bench thinking "Crap, that guy in row K isn't happy with my effort, I'll try harder!"
But if your goal is to make a bunch of people think you are a jerk... Go ahead!

Well, people are paying to see a product, and they are going to respond appropriately to what they see. It's just the nature of the beast. It probably doesn't accomplish a thing to let them know how fed up people are with what they are seeing, but that doesn't make them "Classless" or "Jerks." They spent the money and deserve better than what is going on.
Funny thing is, I debated last night whether to go or not. Then I thought back to the last four games I went to and said I think I've had enough. Man am I glad for that decision. I know...I'm not a TRUE fan! Could be. It's either that, or I'm sick of spending money on watching half a$$ efforts. |
...And on the eighth day, GOD created the Cyclones! |

I thought the effort last night was excellent! They came out intense and strong. Unfortunately, the current roster does not appear to have the offensive talent to score, other than the occasional lucky scramble around the net or a laser from the point that finds some open net. We don't accurately feed the guy streaking toward the net, and we rarely are successful on a tip in. But to boo a lower level pro hockey team whose players make scratch, especially when the effort last night was there,IS simply classless. |

Classless is Perry of Reading standing over a hurt player laying on the ice taunting him. Classless is the refs allowing that player to step back on the ice in the same game. Classless will be the ECHL if he doesn't face at least a one game suspension for this action. Finally classeless was the way the team left the ice last night with our tails between our legs. Yes I was booing both at the refs and mainly at our team and COACHING STAFF. Even if heck freezes over and we win the Kelly Cup- I don't want to see either coach back next year. This team has been a disappointment all year and changes need to be made. Here is an idea for next year's coaches- Malcolm Cameron and Barret Ehgoetz (if retired) or Dwayne Zinger. |

Agree with Catch 22 on this one. These guys are giving it all and if that level of talent isn't good enough for you then you should head up the road and pay AHL prices in Cleveland or NHL prices in Columbus. They also play for next to nothing so they aren't like those multi millionaires stinking up the tax payer paid for Paul Brown Stadium while keeping their fat pay checks.
What very few seem to realize on here at times is that there are two teams on the ice and Reading is a very good team that played an excellent road game last night. Lots of pressure in all three zones and wait for the scoring opportunities. Their second goal was a great example. Hudson made a lousy play but their player was right there applying pressure and took advantage of the misplay.
Everyone of the players who were on the opening day roster for them spent time in the AHL this year which is the first time that has ever happened in the ECHL. They are simply the better team on paper and losing to a team with that much talent who played a solid game doesn't mean the Clones gave a lousy effort as Cloneinator seems to think. There are reasons they finished one point out of first and we snuck in the playoffs.
I pay to see a well played hockey game and last night was just that. Losing doesn't mean you gave a "half-assed" effort in such a game |

| I too thought the the Cyclones gave 100% effort last night. It's just that anything they tried to do didn't work... I thought Reading played a really good game, especially defensively. The Cyclones had their chances, especially early on in the game, but they just couldn't convert any of them...The Royals just clamped down as the game went on. Give some credit to Reading, guys. They're a good team and they didn't finish 2nd in the Conference for nothing. |

I agree, Bags, that the most important change for next year would be a change in coaching. If you want to boo, that is your perogative. Singling out individual players on the home team is unacceptable, at least in my eyes. Hoping for a miracle tonight! |

I couldn't make the game due to other commitments. Who was it that was injured? Someone told me they thought it was Liambas (or "seventy something" as they put it).
I agree 100% on the coaching change. I don't think Skalde has the respect of his corps. How many times have you heard 'lack of effort' describe the team this season, especially associated with a tally of 5+ opposition goals? Recently, a former Cyclone bid farewell to the city by commenting that we had a 'great city, great fans, great team,', but continued saying 'an awful coach.' How often do you see PROFESSIONAL players make commentary like that? We're not talking about a hack, or one of the late season bodies.. We're talking about a player whose departure raised a few questions and upset several fans. No second chance for Skalde. As far as I'm concerned, Cincinnati was his second chance. |

As I said before, the effort was there last night. That was not the "best" I've seen them play at home but it was the hardest I've seen them play. And it absolutely was the most hitting I've seen from this team all year.
Reading is just more talented. They converted their chances, we did not (and we had more).
I do agree, as I've said many times, that we have a coaching problem. Yes, sometimes the team lays an effort egg (but not last night) but another HUGE problem is that we continue to try to play a game that we don't have the personnel to execute. This team doesn't score because it tries to play a fancy, skilled, nifty pass and snipe the goal type of game. That works if you have the personnel for it. We don't. Our passes are typically in the receiving players skates and our shots typically either miss or hit the goalie in the crest.
If we'd get down lown and pay a price for some rebounds or shoot on the rush and fight for the rebounds instead of trying passes we don't have the talent to execute we'd see better results.
But, whatever. I feel pretty confident that Brian Foster saved Skalde's job by standing on his head and getting us a playoff spot, so we probably have to deal with it another year.
And as mentioned on the booing... When you boo a AA minor league player you are booing the effort of a guy that makes no money and likely would rather be somewhere else anyway. If you think what you are doing has anything but a negative effect you are just plain crazy. The home team is never ever going to play better because you boo them. In fact, if anything they'll probably play worse.
I think the people of this town are just so used to watching millionaires stink up a stadium that they just don't know any better anymore.

Sorry Scott but I have disagree. Booing a pee-wee football team is going too far, but $16 tickets makes this now a "Pro" team. The old Raider's coach John Madden said it best. When the team is playing good, that's when I yell at them to stay motivated. When they are down, that's when I ease up because the players are hearing it from the fans and their own families. If a player can't take the boos at this level, do you think they will ever make it to the NHL ? I saw effort last night but very poor execution. Execution is a product of the system-Skalde's system. |

It was Liambas. He had his head down and got walloped. He was back later in the game. |
