| I dont think Coach would have any say so whatsoever about dropping an affiliation for another team. Im sure hed have some say so but it wouldnt be his out right call. Having 2 affiliates is great but Montreal is all but running things down here with the send downs and call ups. |

I totally agree. I think the ownership pretty much gives him the leeway to do whatever he wants and thinks is right (Hey Mike Brown, take a hint!) Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe we still have these affiliations because him. |

I can't believe anyone would want to give up any affiliation on an ECHL or AHL level.
This year we certainly haven't had the support we had last year; at least with the quality of the players assigned. What the affiliations do give us is stability. The players assigned to us are quality players that do not have to be recruited and can't threaten to leave to go to Europe or the AHL (unless recalled). No one has ever told me what financial agreements go with an affiliation but I am sure the Cyclones get some help with the affiliated players (Cash, equipment & living expenses I imagine).
Nashville's system certainly isn't as deep as Montreal's but both organizations still send us (and have sent) guys that are pretty effective. Both teams support makes the Cincinnati Cyclones a much better organization and are responsible (as many have said) for our impressive Kelly Cup championship.
I imagine Chuck Weber's biggest problem is to sign good players who aren't quite good enough to graduate to the AHL. We had JM Daoust for the better part of two years and Stephen Werner (I think he was a Weber signing) for two games. A player who looks at playing for us has to look at the affiliations and see himself as the next Conrad Martin, Matt McDonald, Kyle Rank or any of the other unaffiliated guys who stopped here briefly before moving up to the next level. |
