Okay we lost. Okay the tide turned on Juice and he couldn't stop
anything.Okay JJ looked like a total fool dancing around before his
first fight. The main thing was this-Attendance : 4947!!!!!! The arena
felt like a hockey crowd again.Yes we had a million boy scouts running
around and yes the ushers made almost no attempt to stop the aisle
walking during play, but the arena felt good anyway.Nie really looked
good and his passing could have really created some scoring if they
had been ready for them ,The refs were HORRIBLE.I just wonder if
having a "goon" like JJ means we will have opposing teams be allowed
to take liberty with hits and no calls.Any how,we lost but I still
left feeling good at least about the crowd.

Yeah... Juice letting a goal in within seconds of the puck drop told me what kind of game it was going to be. Oh well.

i hear you bags it was a great crowd. the lower bowl holds around 7000 and it looked pretty damn full...4947 even sounds a bit low for how it looked.

if JJ looked like a fool i can only imagine what your impressions of harrison from trenton are with his arm flailing around in front of him before JJ was even close to him.

what happen to the team we saw on tuesday? you know the one that actually passed to each other and wasn't afraid to shoot the puck. tonite, the guys were out of sync in every aspect of the game.

juice seems like a guy that might actually play better when people are busting on the way he plays. it seems like he'll play really solid for a few games and maybe he gets over confident and then he tanks. then he builds back up to playing solid again and repeat the cycle. he can't be tired with 2 nights off. i think i'm going to give up on trying to understand it and just assume that when he's in net every shot is going in...c'mon kyle prove me wrong...

nie looked good. he let in a soft 5 hole goal but other than that i'm still thinking he came out of the grover trade just fine.

of course the ref was terrible...it was barry pochmara. barry's head it too far up his butt looking for his whistle to actually make a call. the only time you can even hope for a call is when he comes out for air.

i've been saying for awhile that this team just lacks consistency. right now i like the individual pieces that are in place. one thing that we have to keep in mind is that this team is roughly 80% new from what we had to start the season, so basically we are having a second "preseason" so to speak with the guys learning to play together. i just hope it doesn't take too long.

on an up note. elmira lost as well so we get to hold on to 4th place for the time being...

AW- I was hoping I'd get home and see we had a win tonight... I spent the entire day in the hospital. :( Doesn't look like I'm going to get anywhere the rest of the weekend.

Glad to see the attendance number though! GREAT TO HEAR!

Well said Elvis. To make everyone feel better, check out the link ,http://www.hamiltonbulldogs.com/article/bulldogs-scare-monsters-scoreless-in-3-0-shutout-win . It put a smile on my face knowing some of our boys are making a difference for Hamilton. If our boys up north continue to play like they did for us last year, they maybe on there way to another championship! So I say to all my fellow Cyclone fans, I know our current team is not so hot, but keep one eye out on our Cyclones North team. Stay tune!

Three Stars:
1. HAM - Loic Lacasse (22 shots, 22 saves)
2. HAM - Olivier Latendresse (2 assists, +1, 2 shots)
3. HAM - Brock Trotter (1 assist, +1, 1 shot)

Flamboro Downs Workhorse: David Desharnais

AHL Lacasse continues to amaze me.

Great crowd - if you call giving away free tickets in order to fill stands with a bunch of fricken kids that don't even watch the game a great crowd = ok I guess. I can't believe how bad this team looked tonight. I am disgusted............

soft goal on Nie...are you f'ing joking. He had 4 cyclones in front him blocking his view as 5 Trenton players passing the puck around without interuption. That was the defenses fault not the goalie. Uneducated hockey fans kill me...come on people!

the goal, which happened right in front of me, was a shot from the point that was not particularly hard. he may have been screened slightly, but the shot got through clean, and you could tell from his reaction that even he felt it was soft. nie was in proper position but when i shot like that gets through the 5-hole it says it a was a bit of a technique breakdown; not keeping the knees squeezed together when in the butterfly. it's a common breakdown and you see it in goalies of all levels. don't get me wrong, i'm not slamming him. he came in from the bench and made saves right off the bat that that at the time kept the game seemingly manageable, although like i said, and you alluded to we weren't playing well at all. had the shot been harder, been redirected or placed over his shoulder i'd agree that the screen may have been an issue; a professional goalie should stop that shot many more times than it goes in. just a few months ago, when kyle let something like that in many on this board were calling for his head...let's not start calling an apple an orange.

as bad as we got out played i think it does say something that that we killed all but 1 of trenton's PPs, granted some of them were abreviated. a glaring problem was also that we went 1 for 9 on the PP.

and what was up with tj tonite. he was playing very un-tj like. he was getting pushed all over the place...

and while the scouts get group discouts they are not free the last time i checked

We have gone from a team which was averaging scoring 4 goals per game to a team which is hard-pressed to generate any consistent offense. Other than Eghoetz, Kilpatrick and Van Guilder, we have basically zero offense from the rest of our forwards now. From the blueline, McElroy has been stellar offensively and St. Denis is adding almost an assist per game. The rest of the defensemen should probably lay their sticks down at center ice when we're in the offensive zone for all they're worth offensively.

We have now lost 8 of our last 9 on home ice. Our power play is 16% on the season-mediocre overall, but probably converting far less of late. Our penalty kill is dead last in the league allowing opponents goals on almost 1 of 4 chances which is simply pitiful.

We have several players-MacLeod, Sawatske, Gordon, Scero, and worst of all, Gajewski-who flat out stink. And several others who are just plain bad.

Until Syroczynski and Beauregard return (I assume TB will ultimately be sent down), this team is borderline hopeless. It does nothing well and most things poorly.

The only bright spots of late are the aquisition of Nie, Sproat and Wyman. Nie is a proven solid commodity. Sproat has good speed and it would nice to see him on a line with Kilpatrick and Van Guilder to see what he can do. Wyman is an excellent skater. I haven't seen enough of him to get a read on his overall abilities.

The game on Friday was simply pathetic. From Gajewski's pitiful drop of a softball which was knocked in on the rebound 13 seconds into the game to the joke of the power play. Johnson's fight with Harrison and skirmish with the Trenton bench were the only highlights of the game.

The Cyclones have so many weaknesses that the only cure will be to sign veteran players returning from Europe. I doubt that this will be done, but I see no other way of this team becoming decent. The talent simply isn't here. Any team which features a power play with Ben MacLeod, Ben Gordon and Paul Lynch on it just ain't gonna get it done. Ever.

It seems Juice's biggest problem is consistently giving up rebounds. Obviously the defense in front of him didn't help at all just standing there like bowling pins. They sure didn't help Nie on the goal scored against him.

I wouldn't look for Syro back any time soon, and I'll bet the same thing with TB.

As much as I bashed on JJ when he first got here, he seems to be playing smarter hockey now. I would think no matter which side of the fence you were on with him, everyone can agree he is playing the role he needs to play when the time is right and not just blowing up.

As far as the crowd, I don't care if the Cyclones PAID people to be in there! They were there and if 1/4 of them tell someone they at least had a good time it helps. And remember last year, the attendance never really started picking up until after January. It's between football and baseball season, and cheap entertainment.

...And on the eighth day, GOD created the Cyclones!

Look for JJ to get revenge for being drilled in the back last night by Kell. Why didn't Kell get a game misconduct for third man in...I would have been just as pissed off if I were him getting jumped from behind like he did. Lynch and McElroy both were pushed around last night. These guys are playing with no pride or enthusiasm - just going through the motions.

JJ is the only source of entertainment that the Cyclones have. The rest of this team is hard to watch. Left early last night...couldn't take anymore

JTest i was wondering that exact same thing. kell hit JJ from behind after the whistle and came from the other side of the ice to do so he only gets 2 minors for roughing out of it. if something like that happens during play the player would usually get called for a boarding or charging major, never mind the fact that fell's hit was several seconds after the whistle. the only answer i can come up with is barry pochmara. the guy is just plain terrible. with the stuff that he allows to go on, checks long after a player has moved the puck, the clutching and grabing, is it any wonder games get "chippy"

that being said, yeah barry dropped tha ball calling that skirmish but can we reall complain that much...we did have 9 freaking power plays. that has more to do with how active trenton is with their sticks. trenton did a great job of tying up our sticks making it hard to get passes off receive passes or merely skate with the puck at all. i'm not saying that the reason we looked like crap because even the unimpeded passes were so far off that it wouldn't have made a difference last night, but i am saying that it trenton is going to play that way they are going to take a fair amount of tripping/interference penalties. if it happens tonite we have to be ready to capitalize on them...

Not only did Kell hit him from behind but he came off his feet and took about 10 strides to build up speed in the process. He should've gotten roughing, charging, and a game misconduct.

This is what I worry about having someone known only as a "goon".
Last year the second half the officials cut us plenty of slack on
ticky penalties they could have called because we played "clean".
Now with JJ on board,we're not the clean team and officials are
watching everything. Maybe tonight the coach should leave him on the
bench until things are either settled down or out of hand.I saw
another bad ref mistake. With less than 5 seconds I think before the
end of period 1,our player and theirs had to be seperated,First ours
was sent to the bench, but when theirs wasn't ,he returned for the
face-off.As expected-another fight almost occurred.
